New Zealand Insurance Update: Middle East Conflict

April 10, 2026

Guidance from the Willis team for New Zealand clients following the recent Middle East conflict, including key implications and risk considerations.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is causing disruption and challenges to travel and international cargo, with direct implications for insurance cover. We wish to provide guidance to all our clients in New Zealand who may be affected. For businesses and travellers, this conflict increases the risk of delays, cancellations and insurance coverage changes, particularly for cargo and travel insurance.

War-related losses are commonly excluded under standard cargo and travel policies, and insurers may withdraw or restrict cover at short notice. To understand how this situation may affect you, we recommend reviewing our guidance documents.

If you have questions or would like assistance discussing your travel insurance or cargo insurance policies, please contact your Willis broker directly.
